The Hunter transforms for Sea of Birds

The cast and crew of Sea of Birds has been here the past few days working on building their incredible playing space out of bamboo and constructing their beautiful, delicate puppets. Take a look at what they worked on yesterday (April 1).

A studio visit with Timothy Nazzaro

One of the big advantages to working at such a cool institution is that the other staff members and I get the opportunity to know really amazing, talented people.  Last week I stopped by photographer Timothy Nazzaro’s studio/darkroom to take a peek at a few of his upcoming projects.

After seeing his space/work I was eager to share it all with you, luckily he gave me permission to post a few of his photos. Read the rest of this entry »

The case of the yellow puddles

I returned from my lunch this afternoon to find my 4th floor colleagues huddled around the windows overlooking our front courtyard.  Just what could be so interesting to create such commotion? Yellow puddles!

Apparently two young artists that were visiting the museum today took the opportunity to turn our rainy day puddles into yellow ‘works of art’.

These puddles sparked a debate amongst my art loving colleagues. Are these puddles art or are they vandalism? What good reason could someone have to turn perfectly good puddles yellow? Some of us like them, some of us don’t. What’s your take blog readers? Art or not?

Cheers,

Brittany

LA Times Suggests LeWitt Side Trip

We are delighted with Christopher Knight’s recent piece about LeWitt.  Especially the part where he says:

This may be the most perfect union of contemporary art and architecture in the United States. . It’s our Sistine.

If you visit the courthouse in Springfield as he suggests you should also stop by the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford where you’ll find another spectacular LeWitt drawing.
