Several folks have posted their photos from MASS MoCA Fest on Saturday with Josh Ritter, Ben Kweller, Kaki King, Elvis Perkins in Dearland and Samantha Crain.

Ben Sisto was our DJ at the end of the night. A few of his photos are on flickr including the one above.

Rich Oris is a terrific freelance photographer who’s posted one shot here. I’m sure he’ll have more soon on his website. About halfway through the show he told me he had taken 800 so far!

After we made it through all the galleries we headed back down to the lobby in the freight elevator.

The guys met with our Education Coordinator Cortney to learn a little more about MASS MoCA and it’s history.  They were very excited to wear group tour stickers during this portion of their visit.

After doing a little browsing in HARDWARE the MASS MoCA store both Josh and Ben hit up the ATM so they could purchase gifts.

Finally we stopped at the light board in the lobby to get a photo of the guys with the advertisement for the music fest. Mackenzie and I had such a great time showing Josh and Ben the galleries and introducing them to our friends here at the museum. As they walked away we marveled at how cool our jobs were and how excited we were to see the guys again at the festival.

The REAL Josh Ritter and Ben Kweller will be on campus today from 3-11 PM as part of MASS MoCA Fest! It’s going to be a beutiful day and the line up of musicians will rock your socks! Join us if you aren’t planning to already.

Tune into WAMC-FM 90.3 the NPR affiliate in Albany, NY, on Wednesday, August 12 just after 11:30 AM for an interview with and some songs from Elvis Perkins of Elvis Perkins in Dearland.  You can see Elvis in person here on Saturday, August 15 at MASS MoCA Fest.

Taking a break from the galleries we headed down to the lobby and made a B-line for cafe Lickety Split. Josh couldn’t decide what kind of Herrell’s ice cream he wanted, so he got two bowls.

After our snack we headed back toward the galleries. Before we got inside we ran into one of our Performing Arts interns Simon who suggested that Josh and Ben meet with Sue the Managing Director or Performing Arts.

We found Sue outside taking a look at one of our outdoor venue spaces. Sue and the boys hit it off quickly, so we spent the next hour chatting in the courtyard.

Sue invited Josh and Ben to take a look at the backstage area of our main theater, the Hunter Center. We took a quick break in the green room and Josh enjoyed a beverage while we where there.

We’ve just signed up MASS MoCA Fest over at Ridebuzz.org. Whether you are looking for a ride to the festival or you have a few extra seats in your car and you would like a little company on your drive over,  you can use Ridebuzz to connect and make plans for the big day. Join our group and start sharing rides!

After dragging Josh and Ben away from the To Cribbage sculpture outside, we entered the lobby and made a B-line for the Box Office. Famous musicians or not everyone needs a ticket at MASS MoCA. As Ben pointed out they make great souvenirs. Our Box Office intern Alec had the honor of handling the transaction.

We suggested the guys stop at the Ask Me desk to check out the gallery guides and decide which exhibitions they really wanted to visit. They were quite excited to see that we offer tours everyday. We made plans to join a tour later in the day.

Ben was so excited about the tour that he forgot to throw his beverage away before entering the galleries. Our security guard Ryan stopped him before he got inside and laid down the law!

Wonder which exhibition the guys went to first? Stay tuned for Josh and Ben riding a bicycle… in the galleries!
