We just got our very own YouTube Town Hall station set up in the lobby as part of OneWebDay thanks to our good friend Brett McDowell (Check out his blog for some insight into what is happening today). For those of you who haven’t heard about OWD here is an excerpt from an explanation posted by OWD founder Susan Crawford on her blog.
“OneWebDay (OWD) is a global event, like an Earth Day for the Internet. It is a platform people can use to educate and activate others about issues that are important for the Internet’s future. As OWD grows, it will build a global constituency that will work to protect and develop the benefits that the Internet brings to society. Every year, OWD focuses on a key Internet value. In light of this year’s historic US election and the rise of a new online “public square” all over the world, we are focusing on online political participation.”
If you are going to be out and about today in North Adams stop by our lobby until 3 PM and share your thoughts in our station. If you can’t actually be with us, keep your eyes on the You Tube page which Brett will be updating throughout the day with new videos.
Also check out the OneWebDay website which includes complete maps of other participating locations.
Cheers,
Brittany
