On June 15, we opened NL: A Season of Dutch Arts in the Berkshires with a party under Dre Wapenaar’s Pavilion in Courtyard C. Will shot this video of the opening. Dre isn’t only a sculptor and designer, but also a talented pianist as you can hear.
These Bang on a Can fellows started their recital playing in Spencer Finch’s bank of fans [Two Hours, Two Minutes, Two Seconds(Wind at Walden Pond, March 12, 2007)] and moved across the room to Sunlight in an Empty Room (Passing Cloud for Emily Dickinson, Amherst, MA August 28, 2004). It was a wonderful use of the gallery space and the art.
If you’ve ever felt like you were in a game of potentially deadly dodgeball with cars and trucks on Marshall Street while on your way to obtain a pick-me-up at Brewhaha, shoot some pool at the Mohawk, or get a trim at Man’s World, please support our drive to convince the city to install a crosswalk across Marshall Street under the overpass at the corner of Center St. If you’d like to see this challenging crossing made safer and more convenient, please let the Mayor’s office know. Just drop them a note that says I support a cross walk at Marshall and Center.
